Karin Filkaszova, born in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1994 is a student of Peace and Conflict Studies at Malmö University in Sweden. She is currently in a fifth semester, hoping to complete her BA in June 2017. Alongside her studies at Malmö University, she is also taking International Migration and Development course at Lund University and is an active member of Amnesty International group that specializes on spreading awareness about the food crisis in Yemen. After completing her BA studies she would like to continue MA programme in a similar field as her previous studies, focusing particularly on War and Media. Her interest is giving a voice to those who are unheard and for this very reason she aspires to become a foreign correspondent and/or a political activist.
Untold Stories gives voice to the very people who have had the basic human rights taken from them. Here, people who have experienced human right violations are more than numbers in vast statistics. Those who have their stories told here on Untold Stories are the exact people who have been oppressed and forced into silence. Untold Stories tells human rights stories with a focus on press freedom, freedom of expression and life in exile. Countries in focus are Ethiopia, Eritrea and Egypt, the countries with the highest number of jailed journalists in Africa.
